Day 28: Favorite Cheat Meal

I have 5 go to cheats/cravings

  1. Donuts from Mojo Donuts
  2. Pizza
  3. Cookies from Night Owl Cookie co
  4. Oreos, especially the blondies
  5. Doritos-Cool Ranch

The problem is that recently I got allergy tested for mildy being allergic to eggs and lactose and now all but 1 (the oreos-They’re actually vegan) of my go to cheats doesn’t make me feel like vomiting after eating it.  I can handle 1 pizza, but who eats just 1 slice?!

I’ve gotten several reassurances that some mild allergies can disappear, so I’m hoping by getting rid of eggs and lactose for a while will eventually help.

I’m curious if anyone has been in the same situation and their experiences?  Comment Below!

Day 27: Share you favorite fitness blogs

I actually am not a big fan of most fitness blogs and here’s why:

  • If you go online to many of the top fitness magazines (they all have online blogs) you see that the contributors listed most have their masters or even phD in exercise physiology, however if you look up their online blogs it’s loaded with celebrity “fitness and nutrition” tips.
  • Many blogs are filled with verbage that’s easily marketable but scientifically misleading.

However the blogs put out by NCSF (National Council of Strength and Fitness) are all factual and incredibly helpful.

When choosing a blog to read ask yourself the following questions:

  1. Who’s the writer?  Do they actually have a fitness/nutrition education or is it simply a holiday?
  2. Do they wear waist trainers with magic sweat creams?  If they do, don’t even bother!
  3. Is it a celebrity telling you how she got magically hit her goals?  Newsflash, if they didn’t crash diet they paid a professional trainer and dietician to get them there because they’re clueless.

Day 26: Fruit Lover? Who isn’t!

Fruits are definitely a lot more fun to eat as opposed to vegetables.  They’re sweeter and have a better texture in my opinion.

Here are my top 10 ways I incorporate fruit into my diet:

  1. Whole grain toast and peanut butter with sliced bananas for a pre-workout
  2. mixed berries in my oatmeal with chia seeds
  3. Freshly Squeezed Orange Juice (no sugar added and pulp still in the glass) with my breakfast or as a snack
  4. In a fruit smoothie with mint leaves and herbalife wild berry or peach mango beverage drink mix
  5. When my carbs are low for the day I love organic dried mango slices (be careful that the ONLY ingredient is mango
  6. Whole grain crackers and peanut butter with sliced berries on top
  7. Banana and Peanut Butter for a quick and fulfilling snack
  8. As dessert with some drizzled cookie butter
  9. I love putting lemon slices in my water whenever I’m tired of plain water
  10. Dried fruit is a killer additive to homemade trail mix

Day 25: Favorite Family Night Activities

I am the definition of a home body.  9 times out of 10 I will choose staying in as opposed to going out.  Luckily, my husband is the same way.  Our usual Friday, Saturday, AND Sunday night consists of netflix or firestick, home popped popcorn, and cuddles with our 2 cats, and dog.  We wouldn’t have it any other way.

The days we don’t stay home we usually are visiting family.

Day 23: How to Capture Vacation Memories

Considering my next “vacation,” which for me is really just a change in office location, and I love that!  Believe me, being at home is wonderful, but being at home 7 days a week, sometimes you really need that change in location.

While I do still work on vacation, I do also enjoy my time and capture memories through photos, videos, and then eventually I turn them into digital albums that apple allows you to do on iphoto.

On this vacation I have to get my husband on board to help me out with a vlogging series that I would love to do as we are spending 3 nights in Santo Domino, and 2 Nights in Punta Cana all inclusive, to do a vlog on how to keep that vacation balance.  To show everyone how you can enjoy food and drinks without putting on 10 pounds in one week like so many do.  So let’s see if I can get him on board.  Usually the deal is I let him unplug while I put in some work.  Fingers Crossed!

Day 21: Tips for Beating Workout Procrastination

Today was supposed to be about giving tips to blogging procrastination, but I’m not a blogger, so instead, I will be giving you 5 Tips on beating workout procrastination!

  1. Get Started!  The hardest part is actually starting, but I have never met anyone who regrets starting the workout once they have finished.
  2. Get it out of the way first thing in the morning!  The same way you should do all of the hard stuff first!
  3. Think about your goals.  How bad do you want them?
  4. Are you a parent?  Be the role model you want to be for your children.   Teach them to make their health and fitness a priority by leading from the front.
  5. Do exercise that’s fun for you! If it’s not fun for you there’s less chance you’ll get it done.  For example I HATE steady state cardio, but I can enjoy Interval Training for my Cardio!

Day 20: Tips for Veggie Haters

Today was actually supposed to be tips for gardeners, but I don’t garden.  I do however, help people add more servings of veggies to their current diets.

If you’re like me, you hate vegetables.  My mom tells me I’m the worst vegetarian because I hate vegetables, and hardly ever do raw veggies. However, I still make sure to get my 6-8 cups of colorful veggies in minimum every single day.  How do I do this when I hate vegetables?  I find ways to hide them.  I chop/dice them up into teeny tiny pieces and create chipotle like bowls where the rice and beans overpower the taste of the vegetables.  Or if i’m having pasta I add them in, but hide them in the pesto or tomato sauce. I add handfuls of spinach to my shakes.  Or I make veggie sticks and hide the taste with hummus or guac.  If I make Omelets I pack them up with bell pepper, mushrooms, spinach, etc.

If you’re like me, I encourage you to try this!  If you love veggies, enjoy those raw salads!

Day 17: How do I keep my Daily Tasks Organized

Unless I have meetings or clients that are set at specific times I usually have my day filled with tasks that need to get done.  I work all of my tasks around the set meeting or client times as those are top priorities for the day.

All of my tasks I divide up into Morning, Afternoon, and Night.  Within those 3 time frames I list all of the tasks in order of most important to least important.  I try to keep my day as busy and productive as possible, because if I don’t I get easily distracted and not everything gets accomplished ironically.  Sometimes things pop up and mess up your original plan, but that’s just life and you have to work around it.

I function really well off post its and to do lists, as I don’t do well with keeping things organized electronically.  To keep things from piling up I NEVER go to bed unless everything is done, because getting lazy on yourself is one of the worst things you can do especially as your own boss in my opinion.

Once my day, week, or month is planned out I add in my workout time, which usually ends up being in the middle of the day or late at night.
