Get LetlerFit the Personalized Way

With the launch of the NEW LetlerFit.com I now officially publicly advertise my customized online training.

If you read yesterday’s blog post you know that I touched on the major differences between my e-book guides and personal training.

If you can check off any of the following I definitely recommend my online personal training:

  • Have any mobility limitations from past or current injuries
  • Have any diagnosed medical condition
  • Have specific goals
  • Want a training program that is 100% customized for your body and fitness level (everyone is different!)
  • want guidance and accountability

All of my clients begin with my online Needs Analysis (i’ll be touching up on this tomorrow).  What may differ between one client and the next are the different packages available:

  • Just the program:  This is for someone who has a good idea about how to perform the exercises and wants a program to cater to them and any specific goals or needs, but also does not want the coaching or accountability
  • Weekly Check Ins:  Your program will come with a 60 minute weekly check in to go over any questions, video critiques of you performing your exercises, etc.
  • Unlimited Coaching:  This is for the person that wants full access to me during the month of training to ask questions, record and send videos to, while still getting a personalized program

My Challenges Help me more Than my Clients

I Run 3 challenges every year:

  1. A 90 Day New Year Kick Off Challenges with my Fitness Programs
  2. A 4 Week Gallon Challenge utilizing the Herbalife Nutrition Products
  3. a 6 Week Challenge Incorporating my Fitness Programs WITH the herbalife nutrition products

We are mid way through week 2 of 4, of my Gallon Challenge with my herbalife ladies and I am reminded daily about why these challenges benefit me more than everyone else.  I mean yes, I coach everyone personally and my accountability chat is a challenge favorite, but the one who truly sees motivation and gets inspired daily is me.

  • Seeing how everyone motivates each other is such a beautiful thing.  It really does show how people are inherently genuine and authentic.  Everyone wants everyone to do well and get used to this lifestyle change and establish a healthy balance.
  • I love getting recipe, snack, and meal ideas from all of the ladies
  • I stay in check with my own meal plan and exercise routine.  After all what kind of a coach and leader am I if I don’t get on my own goals.  For example I had been getting comfortable only making it to the gym 3 times, when I know I would personally benefit from 4-5 times per week on the program I’m on.  Seeing how one of my fit moms and a full time student who is also working full time (dejavu) made it to their 5 day goals the first week has pushed me to make sure I get my 5 days in as well!  Whenever I feel like overindulging, I think of all of my challengers learning how to establish their balance and learn to choose healthy 80% of the time, my desire to indulge dwindles.
  • Our weekly check ins add more fuel to my fire seeing how much progress everyone makes in just one week including my self is just a motivational bonus!
  • I am always grateful for those who choose me as their coach and allow me to guide them on their journey, but if only they knew they’re the ones that inspire me to keep going when I lose my own motivation.

Reach Your 2017 New Year Goals!

We are officially moving into week 3 of 2017 and many people unfortunately have already given up on their resolutions.  Personally, I am not a fan of calling them resolutions, simply because I believe they are more likely to be attained if we use the word goals & actually create a plan of attack vs just saying our resolutions.  Here are my top 5 Tips to reaching your goals in this new year!

  1.  Find an accountability partner.  Someone who is just as motivated or even more so to help you and herself/himself to reach your 2017 goals.
  2. Create daily and weekly goals.  For example, today I want to eat all of my snacks and drink 1 gallon of water or this week I want to lose .5-2 lbs (healthy recommended weightloss).
  3. Find a program that works for you and is something you can easily accomplish despite your schedule. For example whether you are someone who does not have access to a gym or you do, my programs come with 12 week, step by step exercises that you can modify based on your own level!  I recently just released my total body package so you can get all 7 of my e-books at a discounted rate!
  4. Write your goals down in a place where you know you will be reminded of them often.  I put mine always in my accountability chat that I have for my nutrition clients so we can keep ourselves and each other motivated.
  5. Don’t stress! If you had one rough day it’s not the end of the world, it’s called life!  Just pick it up, stay focused, and don’t stress!  Fitness should be fun! Definitely not a chore.

Setting Realistic Goals

This topic was suggested to me by one of my clients. Totally wishing I would have thought to cover my opinions on his topic sooner, as I think setting realistic goals is key in anyone’s fitness journey.

Far too often I get emails from followers saying they want to drop 50-100 pounds ASAP.  Wanting to lose 50-100 pounds is a great long term goal.  Where I like to start is short term weekly goes.   For example, why does someone need to lose that much weight? What habits did they create that made them gain so much excess weight? I am a huge follower of the baby steps principle.  I absolutely HATE when “fitness and health professionals” put people on ridiculously restrictive diets.  Sure they might restrict themselves for ,maybe a week but then it all hits the fans.  Binging is what we want to AVOID as we should be trying to promote a lifestyle change.  The other day I got an email from someone who was confused because they bought a nutrition program from someone and all it included was a “No No” list.

NoNo list example

Fit of all, almond milk and coconut milk aren’t even considered dairy!!!  Avocado is GOOD for you.  Nuts are GOOD for you.  I could rant on and on about this No No list.  How is this person even in business?! This is just not how you help someone establish a healthy lifestyle.  Start with them, help them remove sodas, processed juices from their diet first by replacing it with water, then tackle the fried and switch it with grilled or bakes for example.  But baby steps!  Not that don’t eat this, don’t eat that nonsense. On a sidetone, PLEASE don’t send me an email saying that you bought someone else’s program, but want my free advice.  Not happening.  But anyways…

Set daily goals:

-Today I will have veggies at every meal.

-Today I will have my smoothie without added sugar

-Today I will have more water than usual

and those are just a few

Set Weekly Goals:

-This week I will lose .5-1 pound.

-This week I will only have 1 bag of chips

-This week I will only have whole grain carbs

-This week I will not eat fried foods

-This week I will go from exercising zero times a week to 1-2 times a week.

Get the picture? Baby steps lead to achieving Monthly Goals:

-This month I will lose 5-10 Pounds (everyones body is different and loses weight at different paces, the goal is to focus on healthy habits)

-This month I went from eating 30 bad meals, to 15 bad meals

-This month I hit my exercise goals

Which helps you meet your annual fitness goals.

If there is one take home phrase I would love for “baby steps” to stick with you.  Don;y focus on bad decisions, focus on all of the good decisions.

Sugar After Hours

I mega-apologize for being MIA this past week and a half.  I can officially say I am done with Spring semester and am FINALLY graduating with my degree in International Relations and Political Science with a minor in Business.  I am now able to focus 100% on my Nutrition and Dietetics BS.

Anyways, one of my friends requested that  give my opinion on eating sugar later in the day.  First, some facts of sugar:

1.  Sugar can be good and bad

2. Sugar provides your body with instant energy (that’s why sugar crashes happen from too much processed sugars in one sitting)

3. Sugar is a carbohydrate

Because sugar is a carb, it does provide our body with energy. What happens when we don’t have enough time or activities in the day to burn off the carbs by using up the energy?  It turns into fat.  This is why people who are trying to lose weight or maintain a lean build are recommended to avoid eating anything with sugars in the evening.  Unless of course you’re more intense workouts happen at night.  For most people however this is not the case.  When sugars go unused throughout the day your body converts it into stored fat in a process known as lipogenesis. (lipo=fat genesis=origin or formation of something).  If you do choose to eat sugars late at night, ditch the processed sugars (candy bars, juices, granola bars etc.) and go for the real sugars found in fruits (well, you should always go for natural sugars if you have to ear it).  Personally, I prefer berries because they are lower on the Glycemic Index.

I know this post was very short, but I hope this helps clear up any confusion you ever had on why you should avoid sugars later in the day.

My typical daily diet

Hey guys!!

So the topic of today’s post, per request is my diet. Before starting I want to put a quick disclaimer, I am not trying to lose weight, I am eating to boost my athletic performance and this is what works FOR ME.  Every diet should be approached at an individualized level or a persons needs and activity level. For me, I usually wod 3-5 times a week, the vixen workout 1x week, at home HIIT or booty building exercises 2-3x week. So I do need more calories than the average person.

In general, I do not eat chicken, turkey, or any red meats. I eat fish once every two weeks, and when I do it is only wild caught salmon or mahi mahi. I stay away from tilapia because despite popular thoughts, it’s a pointless fish. Doesn’t really contain the same amount of omega 3s as salmon does, and most tilapia is arm grown. If you do your research, you will find that farm-grown fish have very to low to no omega 3s fatty acids on top of being synthetic. I do eat eggs 1-3 times a week, but only if they are vegetarian, free range eggs. Putting the animal lover in me aside, you really can taste the difference. They taste more pure, most likely because the hens lay their eggs in stress-free environments versus being stuck in a cage in dozen other potentially disease ridden hens/chickens. As much as I LOATHE veggies, I eat them. Why? Because your body needs the macronutrients found in them. I love all kinds of fruits, but do limit them because just like everything else, excess is no good. Fruits do contain sugars. Given, they aren’t processed sugars, but they are sugars nonetheless. I also get a lot of protein from tofu, nuts, carbs (believe it or not), quinoa, eggs, and my shakes.

Enough of the generalities my typical day looks like this:

Breakfast: Herbalife Formula 1 shake with Formula 1 sport, 1 tbsp of chia seeds, 1 tbsp flaxseed, or 1/4c buckwheat

Meal 1-3: 4oz protein, 1c carbohydrate, 1.5c veggies, source of healthy fat.

Snacks: Apple with peanut butter, banana with peanut butter, mixed berries, carrot sticks and hummus, homemade trail mix.

Dinner: healthy salad with protein source

Before bed: formula sport

Before my workouts I take Herbalife 24 prepare, with a rice cake and PB, nuts, or banana and PB. Why do I eat those foods right before my workout? They contain carbs, fat, and glycogen that my body can utilize during my workout so that it is not taking from what I consume during the day. I want to keep the frame I am at so the extra calories help.

After my workout I take Herbalife 24 Rebuild Strength and Rebuild Endurance.

I hope this post helped clarify any questions anyone may have had. Again, please feel free to message me directly for any further questions or topic suggestions. LetlerFit@gmail.com I also post pictures of my meals on my personal instagram account @Letler
